Pool Area Cleaning Help Wanted

We need some housekeeping (poolkeeping? janitorial?) help!

We are seeking a new person to take responsibility for janitorial type cleaning and resupplying the pool area and bathrooms and putting out the trash during the pool season. This is a paid time commitment at $25/hour for approximately an hour twice a week, and occasional extra cleanings as required after parties, etc.   Please email ASAP to [email protected] if interested.  This could be a good opportunity for one of our younger community members!

Usual duties include:

  • Sweeping bathrooms and under the tree.
  • Mopping (couple times a year or as needed).
  • Cleaning toilets, sinks, dispensers, water fountain, rails into pool, tables and sweeping chairs.
  • Refilling dispensers.
  • Taking the trash to the Edco bin.
  • Take Edco bin to and from curb weekly.
  • Buying paper towels, toilet paper, soap, toilet cleaner any other cleaner needed.
  • Occasionally scraping up gum and cup cakes from pool deck.
  • Clean up left over pool toys.

Can you help keep our neighborhood looking great?

Most of you know that Summerfield benefits greatly from the efforts of our Architectural Committee.  Their work makes a major contribution to sustaining the beauty of and high demand for homes in our neighborhood.

We are looking for someone who will take the maintenance of our architectural standards seriously while keeping an open mind when disputes arise.   We are looking for someone who appreciates the work of this committee in preserving Summerfield’s attractiveness and home values.

The time commitment is minimal (the work is divided between the committee members).  Won’t you consider volunteering? Please email to [email protected].

Reminder – Submit Application for Architectural Improvement Forms

Our Architectural Standards (link) require that public facing exterior updates (roofs, paint, relandscaping, mailboxes, additions, etc.) MUST be preapproved. Submit your forms (link) BEFORE the first Tuesday of each month. Please note that the entire committee is endeavoring to work collaboratively with all home owners to arrive at the best possible solution that helps to keep the entire community looking good (and protect our property values!)

Call for Candidates!

Two of the current SHOA board positions will be at the end of their term this year. Would anyone be interested in serving?

Our board is made of volunteers – residents who care for our community and who by volunteering help keep our dues low! Without that, we risk substantially increasing dues by needing to pay an (expensive!) external management company. Help us to help to keep all of our dues low!

The Summerfield Home Owners Association takes care of  paying the common area utility bills, maintaining the pool, the walkways, and helping to maintain our community standards and values. And for that, we need a functioning board – and for that, we need folks to step up to help the community. Please ask yourself if you’d be willing to pitch in to help keep Summerfield the great neighborhood that we all enjoy.

As soon as possible, please email to [email protected] if you are interested.

Pool Open – Rules – Keys

The pool is now open and ready for the 2024 season. Remember that we have a *passive* solar heating system that uses sunlight to raise the temperature of the pool above what would otherwise be the normal (right now pretty cold!) temperature – it will begin to warm up the pool but it will still be chilly for a while.

We continue to invest in updating the pool equipment and service – aiming to have as good an experience as possible for everyone. Having said that, we of course want to remind everyone of the pool rules (below) which help to maintain that good experience!

If anyone needs a replacement pool key, they are available to residents and property managers for $5. Just email [email protected] to arrange to get one.

Spring time – Weed time

We had lots of rain this spring – and that greened our yards (but also our weeds….) Don’t forget that we all need to work within our architectural standards:

Yards must be maintained, watered, planted and replanted to prevent erosion and present a healthy and trimmed appearance (no more than 20% of lawn area dry or dying). Weeds must be kept under control in all areas of lawns and landscaping. Weeds in the sidewalks or driveways must be removed or eradicated.

Please note that early in the year is the time to apply pre-emergent weed treatments to lawns. But if they have already come up, please get them out before they spread all over your yard (and spread to all your neighbors’ yards…) Thanks!

If you have any question about landscaping – please email or call! Thanks!

Trash Bins

Please don’t forget our Architectural Standards requirement for trash bins: Placement of trash containers/bags in front of a dwelling is restricted to a twenty-four hour period surrounding a scheduled pick-up. After pick-up, empty containers should be stored in the garage or behind the fence out of sight of passers-by on the street.

Annual Meeting

We are working to secure the exact date, but anticipate that our Annual Meeting will be held the last week of May. We will review updates for the year and conduct the tabulation of votes at that time and have an open discussion period. Stay tuned!
