Reminder: Lawn Maintenance and Pool Closure

As we navigate the warmer months, we want to remind everyone of the importance of maintaining a consistent watering schedule for your front lawns.  Proper irrigation helps keep our community looking vibrant and prevents issues like brown or dry patches.  Please ensure that your lawns receive adequate water to stay healthy and green.  Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our neighborhood beautiful!

And as summer comes to an end that means the pool will be closing for the season on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.  During the off season, the Homeowners Association will take care of some much needed maintenance to help spruce up the the pool area before it reopens at the beginning of April next year.

Summerfield 4th of July Parade and BBQ Potluck!

Save the Date – July 4, 2024!

Parade – 11am
Decorate your bicycles, wagons, stroller or play cars and join us at the Elmfield grass area for fun!
Too busy to decorate, come wave your flag and cheer on the parade!
Ice cream to be served after the parade
(sponsored by Denise Shields)

BBQ – 3pm
Hamburgers & hotdogs supplied by the Summerfield HOA
Bring a dish or two to share with your neighbors.
Tables, & tents will be set up in the grass area on Elmfield.
We will have a few grills set up by the pool area to use.
Come join the fun bring your chair or blanket and mingle with your neighbors!

We would love some volunteers willing to lend a few grills, EZups and 6ft long tables. Let us know if you are willing to bring over and share.
We will have games (cornhole & ladder toss) and an area for everyone to draw their patriotic chalk art on and near the Emfield grass during the potluck
Can’t wait to see everyone and celebrate!

Maria Stein:
My husband (who originally grew up in San Diego) and I relocated from the Bay Area to Summerfield in August 2015 and have thoroughly enjoyed living in our beautiful Poway neighborhood. We are empty nesters with 4 grown children between the 2 of us. I work remotely as an HR Generalist/Payroll Specialist for a printing company (headquartered in San Leandro, CA) and Jay is an Operations Lead at a local university.
I am currently extremely active within our Summerfield community serving on the following committees/groups:
• Party planning committee – 3 years
• Architectural Committee – 2 years
• Summerfield Bunco group (co-lead) – 1 1/ 2 years
I would love to serve as a board member, not only to keep our HOA dues low, but to also be even more involved in our community!
My interests are party planning, crafting, decorating, and shopping. My husband loves his Padres and gardening.

Donny Phonea:
I’ve been a proud member of the Summerfield community since 2019. My wife and I are parents of two small children ages four and one. As a profession, I am a financial regulator while my wife is an educator. Both of us have graduate degrees. During my spare time, my interests are gardening, playing tennis, sports, and spending time with the kids. I believe in fostering a safe community with strong family values.

2023 Pool Closing for the Season

We will be formally closing the pool for the season as of Sunday October 28, 2023. While the pool is closed, we will be getting in some needed maintenance work.

SHOA dues for 2023-2024 are $360.  Please note that annual SHOA dues invoices will arrive before the end of June and are payable by the end of July. Instructions for payment are included.

Fire Season Preparedness

We hope that we do not have another wildfire like the one in 2007 that caused our neighborhood to be evacuated— but fire season is approaching for our area, and we should all stand ready to respond if needed.
We encourage everyone to subscribe to AlertSanDiego. This is the county’s “reverse 911” emergency notification system and the City of Poway’s primary resource for contacting you in an event that needs your immediate attention, such as an evacuation due to fires. All landlines are automatically a part of this database, but by registering your email address and mobile phone number, you won’t miss a notification.

Spring time – Weed time

We had lots of rain this spring – and that greened our yards (but also our weeds….) Don’t forget that we all need to work within our architectural standards:

Yards must be maintained, watered, planted and replanted to prevent erosion and present a healthy and trimmed appearance (no more than 20% of lawn area dry or dying). Weeds must be kept under control in all areas of lawns and landscaping. Weeds in the sidewalks or driveways must be removed or eradicated.

Please note that early in the year is the time to apply pre-emergent weed treatments to lawns. But if they have already come up, please get them out before they spread all over your yard (and spread to all your neighbors’ yards…) Thanks!

Trash Bins

Please don’t forget our Architectural Standards requirement for trash bins: Placement of trash containers/bags in front of a dwelling is restricted to a twenty-four hour period surrounding a scheduled pick-up. After pick-up, empty containers should be stored in the garage or behind the fence out of sight of passers-by on the street.
