Volunteers Needed for Summerfield HOA Board Positions

Dear Homeowners,

The annual meeting for the Summerfield Homeowners Association (SHOA) is right around the corner (the meeting will be held in mid-May).  In advance of that meeting, we are requesting assistance with the governance of our community.

As your current SHOA Board of Directors, we hope everyone appreciates the value our neighborhood derives from having an active HOA.  Through the efforts of neighborhood volunteers, the Association has been instrumental in keeping Summerfield one of the nicest and best maintained areas in north Poway.

Your SHOA board is a five-member team of volunteers who meet monthly for a couple of hours.  In addition, board members typically spend an additional four to eight hours per month conducting board business.  Is this something you could do on behalf of your neighbors and community?

For retirees, helping out with the HOA is a great way to add some low stress work back into your life.  We are a bit weak on compensation (you won’t get paid!), but we are generally (ok, at least sometimes) an interesting and entertaining group to work with.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO RUN FOR BOARD POSITIONS NOW!  The election of new board members will be held in the month prior to annual meeting.

Please help us keep Summerfield the great neighborhood it is (with the low HOA dues afforded by volunteer governance).  Respond directly to [email protected] with your interest to participate or contact one of the board members listed on this website.  Any of us would be happy to explain how the board operates and what you could expect if elected as a member.

Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Proposed Change to Paint Standard for Summerfield

Below is a proposed modification to the Summerfield Paint Standard. This proposal is also posted in PDF format on our website at https://summerfieldpoway.com/policies-forms/#AAI

The Summerfield Home Owners Association Board requests your review and feedback.

In addition, if you have a new neighbor who may not have received this, please ask them to let us know their email address so they can be added to the distribution list.

Thanks!

Proposed Change to Paint Standard for Summerfield

(cross-outs show intended deletions, while italics show additions)

All homeowners are required to maintain the paint on the exterior of their home. Painting of one’s home, even if using the same paint color, requires that homeowners submit an Application for Architectural Improvement—Exterior Paint to the Architectural Committee prior to commencement of painting.

In addition, a paint swatch/sample must be included for all painted areas (i.e. house body, trim, accent, and door) with the application.

1)    The Property Services Division of Dunn-Edwards Paint, along with the Summerfield Homeowner’s Association, has developed 20 approved Paint Schemes (hyperlink here, if possible). These schemes provide the homeowner suggestions for the paint color for the body of the house, the trim, and the door. The homeowner may use these colors as presented or they may interchange colors with the exception of those designated as “door color only.”  Applications which use only colors from among the 20 approved paint schemes will be approved.

2)    Homeowners are not required to purchase paint from Dunn-Edwards. Homeowners may choose another vendor or propose a similar color as shown in to those found in the Paint Scheme books for consideration by the Architectural Committee.

3)    If the colors the owners want to use are not among those in the 20 approved Paint Schemes, the owners must submit actual paint samples greater than 25 square inches (5 in X 5 in) that show the desired color alongside the colors from the approved schemes that they most closely resemble.  The Committee will then decide whether to approve the application based upon three factors: (a) whether the requested paint colors will maintain the preference for earth tones; (b) whether they are within the general range of colors found in the set of approved paint schemes; and (c) whether they satisfy the goal of maintaining a harmonious look within Summerfield.

 43) Paint Scheme books with swatch samples of each scheme may be checked out from the Architectural Committee Chairman upon request for a period of one week.

54) Dunn-Edwards offers a 3720% discount to all Summerfield homeowners on their paint purchases. 5) To view paint swatches on-line, go to: www.dunnedwards.com. Click on “Paint Center”, select “Product Catalog”, then click on “Exterior Paint.”
