Doggy do-do’s and don’ts
Summerfield is not only a great neighborhood for families, but also for dogs.
We ask all dog owners to please pick up after your dogs. It is common courtesy and required by the Summerfield CC&Rs. Article VI, Section 8 of the Summerfield CC&Rs states: “Dog owners are required to immediately remove any deposits their dogs might place upon the Common Areas, private Lots, streets, or elsewhere in the Community…”
TIP: doggie bags are located in 3 areas within the community for residents to use.
According to San Diego County Code section 62.669(a) and California Penal Code Section 597, dogs must be kept on leashes and the person holding the leash must be capable of controlling the dog while in public.
Poway contracts with the Humane Society for animal control, including lost and stray dogs and barking dog complaints. The number is 760-888-2275. See this web page for more information: Animal-Services
For more information, see Pet Ownership Laws.
Thank you for keeping Summerfield safe and clean not just for us humans but for our canine friends too!

Friendly Reminder: Supervision and Yard Safety
We’d like to gently remind all residents to please speak with their children about respecting property boundaries within the neighborhood. Recently, a group of young, unsupervised children—approximately 7 years old—were seen jumping between a decorative rock and over a brick divider between backyards. While the play appeared innocent, it did pose a safety risk and involved entering private property without permission.
For everyone’s safety and comfort, please remind children not to enter or play in others’ yards unless they’ve been invited and are supervised. Thank you for helping keep our community safe and respectful!

4th of July Parade
Another epic SummerField patriotic parade
We had such a fantastic turnout this year!
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate and continue this wonderful tradition🚲🚲🚲
Scoop of the Month: Honoring 40+ year Residents
In this edition, we’d like to introduce William and Patricia Eichorn.
In August 1984, the Eichorns made the cross-country move from Princeton, New Jersey, to sunny Summerfield, bringing with them their two children, David and Nicole. As they searched for a community with excellent schools, the name Poway kept coming up—especially during visits with Pat’s sister, who lived nearby in Olivenhain.
Their journey to Summerfield began as a rental, but fate had other plans. After a year, the out-of-town owners of the home called unexpectedly to say they were selling. After thoughtful conversations with new friends and growing connections in the neighborhood, the Eichorns decided to plant their roots right here—and never looked back.
Over the decades, Summerfield has been more than just a place to live—it’s been home. William served as the Minister of Music at Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church for 32 years, while Patricia worked for Manson and Stenstrom Orthodontics for 20 years, both right down the street on Pomerado Road.
Together, they raised their family here, built lasting friendships, and have contributed richly to our community. As they reflect on the past 40 years, the Eichorns are grateful for the life they’ve built in Summerfield—and look forward to many more joyful years to come.
Volunteers Needed – Architectural Committee Vacancy
We’re currently seeking new volunteers to join our Summerfield Architectural Committee. If you are a
homeowner or renter in Summerfield and care about maintaining the beauty and harmony of our neighborhood, we’d love to have you on the team!
Being on the committee typically requires just 1 to 2 hours of your time per month. It’s a great way to connect with neighbors and contribute to keeping our community looking its best.
If you are interested or have any questions, please reach out Denise Shields (Summerfield Architectural Committee Chair/VP HOA) at summerfieldpoway.arch@gmail.com.
Good News…New Pool Furniture!
We’re pleased to announce that the HOA Board has recently purchased new pool furniture for the enjoyment of all residents.
It is scheduled to arrive by mid-August.
To ensure this investment lasts for many seasons to come, we kindly ask that everyone treat the furniture with care and use it responsibly.
