Call for HOA Board Members
PLEASE HELP US MAINTAIN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND LOW HOA DUES
WE NEED NEW HOA BOARD MEMBERS
The annual meeting for the Summerfield Homeowners Association (SHOA) is right around the corner (the meeting will be held in late-May). In advance of that meeting, we are requesting assistance with the governance of our community. In recent years, we have had difficulty recruiting new volunteers to assist in managing our HOA. We need your help.
If you might be interested, please try to attend a short “Meet and Greet” with the existing board before our next board meeting. Our next meeting is on Thursday, February 7th and we will hold our “Meet and Greet” at 5:00 pm. Send us an email at summerfieldpoway@gmail.com or call one of the board members (see https://summerfieldpoway.com/hoa-board/) if you would like to get acquainted with the board and learn what our board members do to manage our HOA. Our meetings are held here in the neighborhood at the home of the board president.
In this election cycle, we have two SHOA board positions to fill with more to follow next year. If we are unable to bring on new volunteers from within Summerfield, we may be forced to hire outside manager(s) to help operate our HOA. This would likely require a significant increase in our annual HOA dues.
As your current SHOA Board of Directors, we hope everyone appreciates the value our neighborhood derives from having an active HOA (look at the RB neighborhood immediately to our west to see what an unmanaged neighborhood looks like). Through the efforts of homeowner volunteers, our board is instrumental in keeping Summerfield one of the nicest and best-maintained areas in north Poway.

Your SHOA board is a five-member team of volunteers who meet monthly for a couple of hours. In addition, board members typically spend an additional four to eight hours per month conducting board business. Is this something you could do on behalf of your neighbors and community?
For retirees, helping out with the HOA is a great way to add some low stress work back into your life. We are a bit weak on compensation (you won’t get paid!), but we are generally (ok, at least sometimes) an interesting and entertaining group to work with.
